The McDonald's at 11564 Rockvillle Pike in White Flint is due for a major remodeling this year. Both the dining area and restrooms will get significant overhauls. Walls, floors, and ceilings will be updated.
Existing interior lighting will be replaced with contemporary LED fixtures. The shingle roof will be replaced with a metal roofing material. McDonald's has not yet announced any project timeline or extended periods when the work would require temporary closure of the restaurant, so stay tuned for that.

How that isn't a giant building by now is beyond me. Speaking of giant buildings, Bethesda needs a McD somewhere. Real estate is so valuable that those days in downtown Bethesda are beyond over. Even ground floor of a new building would be unlikely. Your photo reminds me a lot of the old East-West Highway McD.
What a shame! This location should apply for historic preservation, it's one of the few remaining retro-style Mickey Dee's around. /s
9:51 AM Is there a covenant against traditional fast food chains in downtown Bethesda?
Since McDonald's left, there are none.
Bonus points if you remember there used to be a burger king at the Metro Center.
A couple of burger chains like BGR and Five Guys exist, but they don't serve all day-parts, are more expensive and have limited menus.
Furthermore, a need exists for an Irish pub. With the demise of Ri-ra and Harp & Fiddle, I have to think there's a niche there. Can't have a downtown without an Irish pub, right?
hey rob! it has been awhile, how is everything going?
