Brooks Brothers has made a remarkable comeback from the abyss in the failing retail environment of Friendship Heights. Their 5504 Wisconsin Avenue store had temporarily closed last year, due to the pandemic. Then, in December, the building's owner began advertising the space as available for lease.
But as of last week, there was activity inside the store. Displays were being set up, and merchandise returned to the sales floor. By Tuesday, it was ready for business. Here are scenes from last week, as staff prepared to reopen the store:

I was so surprised to drive down the street and see it open! I immediately parked and went in. The store is reorganized a bit, but looks very familiar, though I didn't recognize any of the staff. As a very regular shopper there over the years, it made me very happy to see the store back in its rightful place. I'm looking forward to shopping there again soon.
