Local 1994/MCGEO, the union representing Montgomery County public employees, has reached a tentative labor agreement with County Executive Ike Leggett. It will include pay hikes tied to years of service. Unresolved issues will be addressed in a separate negotiation this fall. The deal is good for one year.
Among the union's successes this year, was the defeat of legislation that would have privatized the County Department of Liquor Control, killing around 350 jobs.
“Without the solidarity and activism of our membership, we would have had a very different outcome,” said Local 1994 president Gino Renne in a statement this morning.
