Construction is getting underway at the future Nike Store at 7117 Arlington Road at Bethesda Row. Yesterday, construction fencing was erected around the entrance and sidewalk immediately in front of the store. "Coming soon" signage posted in the windows is still visible. One invites you to become a Nike member, and another provides a website to apply for jobs at the future store.

@ 11:14 That's a great comment! In reply, they could hire folks for their basement if we could just get rid of those pesky labor laws preventing child labor. I can think of a dozen children I know who would benefit their families by earning a Chinese "slave wage". Better than the streets learning to steal or the couch learning to be lazy. Who supports labor laws? Democrats and other Leftists, enough said. China is leaving us behind when it comes to getting a day's work out of everybody.
I, for one, am very happy to see more 'court sports,' in Bethesda. We need some more basketball to balance pilates, spinning, ebikes, lacrosse, etc. Let's build some basketball courts too!

We have raised a generation or more of poorly skilled children who have accomplished very little in life and think they actually deserved that BMW Daddy gave them. No. They. Didn't.
It appears that Nike's Business Model has changed for the "tony" DC area: Nike is closing it's hard-to-get-to-by-public-transportation Georgetown store (but ostensibly looking for a dramatically smaller, easier to secure 'Georgetown footprint' store.
Bethesda is a logical upscale area that will eventually be part hub for the Purple line, as well. All win win for the athletic shoe crowd, plus it helps fills the sports void left by Modell's departure years ago. Now instead of keeping business on the avenue, our new customers get yo see all that Bethesda has to offer! Win win!

@ 6:53 - The Georgetown store was in a former Barnes & Noble store (32,000 square feet). The Bethesda store will be in a former Amazon Books store (6,000 square feet). That's less than one-fifth of the size.
I'm waiting for the first Hookah lounge! If MC loses SS, so goes Bethesda.
Will they have all the shoes locked down and private security like in the now closed G'town store?
