Kay Jewelers "temporarily closed" at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Kay Jewelers
is "temporarily closed" at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, according to a sign posted on the shuttered entrance to the store. The ubiquitous mall jeweler being closed is like a Cinnabon or Auntie Anne's being closed at your local mall - all is not right with the world. No reason for the closure is stated on the sign, and no reopening date is given. It invites customers to shop their website in the meantime.

Too upscale now for 'old Bethesda,' soon there will be a popup Bling store for the new customers. Bethesda as we know it will soon be no different than Silver Spring and Wheaton.
New Bethesda, aka "North Bethesda," tho two (2) Metro stops away, will be the real hot spot, til that's ruined too

If you can't sell jewlery at a profit in February, then when?

I think our mall is slowly getting abandoned by real/viable business and will be replaced by pop ups. Big money investment in South Bethesda will grind to a stop as crime and all that goes with it creeps north. Our police are incapable of even slowing it down, but worse, our ELECTED officials are essentially welcoming our own degradation. How did business hating Elrich get elected? How many votes put him over? Pathetic.
