Police release photos of Fox 5 armed carjacking getaway (Photos)

Montgomery County police have released blurry images of the escape by two suspects who allegedly committed an armed carjacking outside of Fox 5 at 7272 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda early Thursday morning at 12:11 AM. Detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating the two male suspects, and the stolen burgandy 2018 Hyundai Tucson SUV. While Fox 5 reported that the armed suspect had pointed his gun at the victim, police say he raised his shirt to display the firearm tucked in his waistband.

The suspect whom police say stole the vehicle is described as a Black male with a "dark complexion," around 5'7 to 5'9" tall, 18-22 years of age and with a thin build. He was wearing a ski mask, a hoodie and dark colored gloves. After seizing the Tucson, the suspect followed his accomplice, who was driving a dark SUV, to make their successful getaway. The dark SUV driver is described as a Black male with a medium complexion, in the same age range, and with locs that came down over his forehead.

Only after watching the extensive coverage of the carjacking on Fox 5 have the suspects realized they've done the second dumbest thing next to carjacking a cop - - carjacking an employee of a major local news outlet. You better believe extra police resources are being put on this case. Anyone with information regarding these suspects or this crime is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or 240-773-TIPS, or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers can remain anonymous.

So he displayed that he had a firearm? What a great opportunity to reach for your constitutionally protected carry weapon. Whoops! I forgot this is MoCo. SCOTUS means nothing here. Will Dem voters finally admit they have buyers remorse on Elrich? I'll wait. MoCo is in trouble. Long 4 years of this under Comrade Elrich.

The problem with police descriptions such as “Black male with a "dark complexion," around 5'7 to 5'9" tall, 18-22 years of age and with a thin build,” is that it describes and puts in danger of misidentification a bunch of other Black males with a "dark complexion," around 5'7 to 5'9" tall, 18-22 years of age and with a thin build who could just be innocently walking down the street. Descriptions like these with no other unique identifiers are problematic! How many white male with a "light complexion," around 5'7 to 5'9" tall, 18-22 years of age and with a thin build do you know personally? How many Asian males with a "medium complexion," around 5'7 to 5'9" tall, 18-22 years of age and with a thin build do you know personally? These descriptions are not useful and only serve to put innocent others in jeopardy of misidentification!

I think the word you are looking for in that last paragraph is "favoritism".

There's a general sense of lawlessness growing in our community. Smaller crimes like shoplifting becomes acceptable, leading to bolder, armed carjackings. We're headed in the wrong direction but our local leaders don't appear to have a plan.

Woke to the max, and spitting out the Bolshevik party line. It doesn't make any sense, but very little that the Bolsheviks do make any sense, unless put in the proper context of disabling white society by any and all means.

In this case, the same could be said for purple shirts. How dare you mention the purple shirt! What an affront to all law abiding purple-shirt-wearing citizens! Now all citizens who wear purple shirts will be quivering in fear. Not to mention those driving black SUVs. This shouldn't have been mentioned either.

And, in the final escalation of this twisted logic, why call them a male? That implies human, and perhaps they don't identify as human. In that case, you've hurt their feelings. They might be bawling their guts out at this moment, thanks to the insensitivity of that police description.

My 20 year old LG flip phone take better quality pictures than those. We can read the date on a Lincoln Penny from a satellite pointed at the Moon, but for security here on Earth, this 00000.00G "quality?" Embarrassing.

@8:05 AM: We're definitely in for a long four years of this. Thousands of Elrich voters have had their cars stolen in MoCo over the past few years and it simply didn't matter in the election. They voted for Elrich again anyway without any sense of buyer's remorse from that. Maybe having armed carjackings will be enough to create buyer's remorse for these Elrich voters, but I doubt it. Leftists are willing to accept crimes like this if it means they get to control all the levers of power here.

@8:56 AM: Are you serious? There is such a thing as skin tone and it's a helpful descriptor for identifying people of interest in a criminal investigation. Some Black people have darker skin than others do. Some White people are more pale than others are.

"If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he/she fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he/she must be taught to fear is his VICTIM."

@12:34 PM: Absolutely correct. MoCo Leadership just isn't interested in providing enough funding for there to be enough police on the MoCo Police Force to regularly patrol the community. Heck, there are barely enough officers to respond to service calls. They're understaffed and underpaid. The County Leadership is openly hostile to them. It's a shame. I'm grateful for the officers who are on the force and doing their best to keep us all safe. I thank them whenever I see them. Now that the County has effectively disarmed Legal Conceal Carriers for the time being with this new Carry Restriction, these officers are the only actual deterrent against the criminals here. It's going to get much worse over time. This is just the beginning.

Ok so I have a question. At the risk of being ridiculed as having made an ass out of you and me, like that The Odd Couple tv episode, I always assumed that Fox5 exployees whatever their status or seniority had cushy inside parking garage benefits with some old man named Clancy as the guard beyond the gatecard entrance/exit gate. Guess I was wrong. As a producer, couldn't she afford parking or if Fox5 as they commented that the safety of their employees is of their utmost priority, or was the garage closed? Just curious whether it's my business or not Off-site outdoor in street parking seems more convenient and cheaper, but as in SS, garages can be deadly as well...

6:59 - You got that right. They voted the party anyway. Elrich could shoot someone and they would still pull the lever for him. Unreal.

"So he displayed that he had a firearm? What a great opportunity to reach for your constitutionally protected carry weapon."

JAC out here crying about how shootouts DON'T happen in downtown Bethesda. Wtf???? Bro has watched too many Hollywood films and is completely detached from reality. So sorry there isn't bloodshed on MY streets (since I recall others pointing out you don't even live here). Maybe we can all come shoot up your neighborhood instead?

My guess is the monthly rate to park in the garage is outrageous, even for employees. So if you work the night shift, it's free to park on Elm. This is typical is most urban office buildings- employers don't pay for employees' garage parking.

3:18 - Personal attacks weaken your position don't ever forget that. Secondly, what in the heck does your comment even mean? The bad guys are increasingly doing bad things and little seems to be done about it. Bethesda has had frequent armed car jackings in the past? We know that's not true. Good guys with guns save lives especially their own. Period. What does MoCo actually move on? Removing our right to carry recently upheld by SCOTUS. Terrific.

I get the type you are - you give up. You back down. You are willing to give up this town without a fight, the county without a fight, the country without a fight.
You are, in other words, an Enabler.
And the worst kind, a self righteous Enabler.
Who doesn't learn from history.
Gotta nip this crime in the bud, bud.

3:56 you took my comments waaaaaay out of context and twisted a word or two in an entire narrative that suits your theory. I love how the word “woke” which means nothing more than be aware was turned into a bad word but then the very people who say that complain about people not being aware of what they want them to be aware of! Just a goofy situation. All I am saying is to add more unique identifiers to police descriptions. Purple shirt is also not enough. People see the words “Black” or “White” and get all freaked out. Calm down!

This has nothing at all to do with what I said. Maybe re-read. General descriptors without unique identifiers are problematic. You know what else is problematic? The fact that people cannot even say “Black person” or “White person” without people ONLY SEEING those words and nothing else and screaming “woke” and losing it.

Everyone knows it's the right that is power obsessed. Just look at their response to school shootings. Just pushing more money into the pockets of their NRA handlers, cause Republicans are anti America.

A county resident got 9 years in jail for car jacking the other day. Thumbs up to the states attorney.
