Altar'd State closing today at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Altar'd State
is closing permanently at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, at the close of business today, May 21, 2023. The Christian women's apparel boutique opened here in April 2018. This closure we can blame on Montgomery County's hostile business climate and County Council, as the brand is neither going bankrupt, nor closing stores elsewhere in the country. In fact, a company press release exactly one month ago described Altar'd State as "a rapidly growing women's fashion brand with 123 Altar'd State stores, 25 Arula boutiques, six Vow'd boutiques and two Tullabee boutiques in 38 states."

So you are going to blame this store closing on a hostile business climate when the Moco Westfield mall is one of the few malls in the country that’s actually thriving and not near abandoned? Does Montgomery County get credit from you for having a successful mall when most other malls around the country are failing or have already closed?

6:58: "Most other malls around the country are failing or have already closed" is a bit hyperbolic. Westfield is well-known for being one of the top mall operators in the world, and they get the credit. The County Council has zero to do with leasing operations at the mall. They have everything to do with businesses' inability to make a profit.

Maybe it's because they are a Christian women's apparel store, a niche of niches, in a county where only ~40% of the population identify as religious (any religion). Narrow that down enough to Christian sects and you have a store in a non prime location. Maybe it's still turning a profit, but perhaps the owners realize they could get an even bigger profit by moving this store elsewhere.

8:05 - You are still full of yourself brown eyes. What you have opined could be viewed as a libelous statement.
