The Heights food hall signage installed (Photos)

What a day it is for sign installation in Bethesda and Chevy Chase. Here in the latter, we have the permanent signage now in place at The Heights, the new food hall at the Shops at Wisconsin Place in Friendship Heights. One of the food hall's tenants has gotten its own prominent sign outside. My guess is that's because Urbano Mexican Fare is the one full-service restaurant at the food hall. It's a good day in recent times when a sign is going up, rather than being taken down, in Friendship Heights.

I'm really looking forward to this but as a self proclaimed urban scientist think the location is daunting for such a food place. Unless they can keep up a hearty lunch business and walk in from the local hotels there just ain't much traffic that's looking for food there. Just nothing to do after early rush hour around there.

PARKING PARKING WE NEED PARKING. PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC IS NOT ADEQUATE. IT'S NOT ENOUGH TO SUSTAIN BUSINESS. BUEINESSES AND DRIVERS NEED PARKING. GIVE US BACK OUR ON-STREET PARKING.

There's just not enough to see there! Maybe when the Mazza project gets finished and occupied. By then even Bethesda will be threatened by unchecked crime. Next big retail experiment will be " "North" Bethesda."
