Arby's building fenced off in White Flint (Photos)

Construction fencing has been erected around the vacant Arby's restaurant at 11710 Rockville Pike. No new tenant has been announced, and the building is still being marketed for lease. Maryland property records do not show a sale of the property as of this morning.

A Shake Shack restaurant had been proposed for the building, but those plans were, sadly, withdrawn. That was a huge mistake by the burger chain. They would have done massive business here, especially in drive-thru sales. If I was an investor in Shake Shack, I would be screaming. At least Tom Bodett left the light on for us in the kitchen. Hopefully a smart fast food chain like Jack in the Box or In-N-Out leases this building soon.

You mean North Bethesda?

I would absolutely agree on the Shake Shack as you reported earlier. That's the second only drive thru on that stretch of the Pike. They would have crushed it. I worry that Starbucks would go in there. There are way too many of them as we know

Why don’t you start your own business since you think you are so much smarter than Arby’s or the Lerners?

What a gratuitously hostile thing to say, 8:45. Why the aggression? Somebody need a juice box and a hug.

Robert makes a fair point. The location, with its high visibility, high-[foot and vehicle] traffic, easy-access, ample parking, and drive-through capacity already incorporated in the structure, would undoubtedly see a good deal of business were a popular brand like Shake Shack to take over the property. That doesn't mean Shake Shake might not have legitimate reason to locate elsewhere. But it's pretty hard to argue the old Arby's spot would be a *bad* idea for a brand as popular as SS.

I don’t think anyone is going to lease it and if they do it’ll be short term. That entire block is scheduled for redevelopment as part of the North Bethesda Master Plan. is it possible they’re tearing it down and haven’t taken the leasing sign down?

Shake shack is massively overrated

6:15 - Not a foodie clearly. SS blows away any competitor by miles. Is it the greatest burger ever? No, but for a fast or faster food option, the quality is not even in the same conversation as any other burger chain. Let's do this, enlighten us on a better burger from a similar concept I'll wait.

Maybe the rent is so high the companies who look at it say "Naw". Or 10:18 may be onto something. One thing I do know - Mom and Pops can't afford the rent in the area any more, so do not expect anything but chains, chains, chains. Sad, goodbye Main Street.
