Landow Building main entrance temporarily closed in Bethesda

The main lobby entrance to the Landow Building at 7910 Woodmont Avenue is temporarily closed. Visitors are being directed to the St. Elmo Avenue entrance to the building. According to the posted permit, a complex structures review of post-tension modifications to the 2nd floor concrete slab is being conducted (maybe one of our construction expert readers can elaborate on what that means in the comments). Construction of a new canopy will also be part of the project. The modern office building is one of the jewels in the Nathan Landow real estate crown in Bethesda, along with The Promenade, Fairmont Plaza, Crescent Plaza, and The Seasons.

It sounds like a contractor may have accidentally cored through a post-tensioned reinforcing strand when drilling a hole in the floor, and they have to verify the structural integrity of the slab. They may need to reinforce the construction.

@ 658 Ya think. Folk don't know until you tell them. It's not a video game. Real life.

Why are all flags in front of the behemoth eyesore Marriott HQ at half-mast?

@ 3:33 PM: “Governor Wes Moore ordered the United States Flag and Maryland Flag lowered to half-staff…in honor of Firefighter Brice C. Trossbach of the Naval District Washington Fire Department at NAS Patuxent River, who died in the line of duty Tuesday, June 27, 2023, while fighting a fire in St. Mary’s County.”
