Reedman Toll Nissan closes in N. Bethesda, step toward White Flint Western Workaround project
Reedman Toll Nissan has closed at 11605 Old Georgetown Road in North Bethesda. Signage has been ripped down from the dealership building, which is located across from Pike & Rose. Some inventory remains on the lot. The dealership brand acquired Chevy Chase Nissan's business and moved it to that location in July 2016.
A long-delayed Western Workaround road network project contained in the 2010 White Flint Sector Plan has been held up in part by the dealership property - although that has been far from the only reason for the hold-up. The closure suggests that the County may now be a step closer to moving forward in acquiring the needed land for that part of the new road grid. County officials had hoped to avoid using eminent domain, which would cause even further delay.

Some inventory remains on the lot. The dealership brand acquired Chevy Chase Nissan (formerly at 7701 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda) in July 2016 and moved their inventory to the Old Georgetown Road site in July 2016.
The site on Old Georgetown Road will eventually be acquired by the County, along with other sites, to build the "Western Workaround" street network shown in the map.
Glad to see this happen. Heading south out of Pike and Rose was always depressing to see that cheesy Nissan Dealership blocking the continuation of the development south of Old Georgetown Road.
This is great news. Glad the county could finally deliver.
