Bethesda fountains come alive for summer (Video+Photos)

The temperature and the fountains in downtown Bethesda often get ahead of Mother Nature in declaring the arrival of summer. Once again, the fountains in Veterans Park and on the Bethesda Metro Center plaza are providing David Letterman-esque dancing waters, cool breezes and negative ions that can boost the spirits of the weary commuter, tourist or Montgomery County taxpayer.

The cascading waterfalls at the Bethesda Metro Center fountains can relax the mind. Bethesda's water features remind us of the inspiration behind our town's name: the healing pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem.

What, no love for the other water features in downtown? The big fountain at the Chevy Chase Trust building has been on for weeks and looks great. How about the big one on the back side of the Hyatt, or the round on in front of Brown Bag? Or the several fountains along the pedestrian spaces south of the Hyatt, or in front of Anthropology, or at Amazon Books, or the three behind the Flats at Bethesda Avenue, or between Gallery I and II, or at the Flats on the north side of town?

It would be nice to see a collage of all the fountains in downtown, not five photos each of only two fountains. By my count, I think we have at least a 14 or so in downtown.
