About 65 homes are without power in southwest Bethesda this morning. An explosion was heard in the Springfield neighborhood near River Road and the Kenwood Golf and Country Club around 5:53 AM, likely a transformer exploding. Pepco customers in that area and in part of Sumner lost power. The utility currently estimates that power will be restored by 9:00 AM this morning.
