Car stolen from Bethesda apartment building
Montgomery County police responded to a report of a stolen car in downtown Bethesda on Saturday morning. The vehicle was reported stolen from a residential parking garage in the 4900 block of St. Elmo Avenue around 11:56 AM, according to crime data. There is only one residential building on that block, the Bainbridge Bethesda apartment tower.

Obviously there is a car theft ring in Bethesda. Are there street cameras, anything being done ?
Does Montgomery County Council Marxists do anything but raise taxes and call for defunding the police?
Bethesda is a Marxist haven apparently , boy have we all been misled
For people like SocialNorm, the psychic benefits of living in the liberal paradise of MoCo are enough to compensate for the heightened risk of having your car stolen. That, and SocilNormites probably can afford to live in houses or buildings with secure garages that reduce the risk. Or maybe they think that car thieves are the victims of oppression and have the right to steal cars as a form of reparations.
@8:37 AM, so you think there's a car theft ring in Bethesda. Have you read crime reports for other areas? Obviously not, this crime is not germane to Bethesda, in addition, what do you think will come of street cameras when the vehicle(s) stolen have known owners, and in most cases the perps are in disguises. Quit blaming and name calling your government officials for problems even you are clueless in solving.
8:37 should try reading up on the subject. MoCo's vehicle theft rate is a fraction of DC's and significantly below Fairfax's, as well. Which isn't to say police shouldn't continue to focus on it, but try not sounding so silly. People aren't Marxist just because you don't like them and Marxists aren't in favor of vehicle theft.
@9:06 AM FYI I have on-street parking, in front of my house. In addition, I lock my car the same as I would while shopping at a mall, parking in downtown B-town, DC, or anywhere else. (Note: see 8:22PM) This is just common sense, not stupidity, it compensates for the asininely snarky attitude of those who have their cars stolen, and then say "how dare those thugs"! These thieves operate in groups, most often seeking vehicles to commit other crimes, sell it car or strip the resalable parts, then ditch the skeletal remains. The latter seldom happens here, most often the cars are getaway agents. You, on the other hand come off as a disgruntled, bitter, old, conservative, who likes to pigeonhole those in disagreement with your anal-retentive, i.e. conservative, narcissistic mind as liberal, the worn out buzz word of all failed repuklicans. My condolences to your lost mind.
@8:22 PM: If you're a Marxist, stealing a car is not considered theft. When your car is stolen I'll remind you of that.
@3:48, that's legitimately the dumbest thing I've read all week. Congratulations.
It’s hard to argue with people that are so buried in their ideology that justifying theft is part of their “SocialNorm”
“The CVS on my corner has started locking up basic items like clothing detergent. As so many families can’t make ends meet right now, I can’t imagine thinking that the way to solve the problem of people stealing basic necessities out of desperation is to prosecute them” – Cynthia Nixon (actress, former NYC mayoral candidate)
Walgreens has closed 11 locations in San Francisco because there is no longer any prosecution of shoplifting. Baltimore no longer cites criminals for petty crimes or traffic incidents. Why is there a significant migration from blue states/cities to red states?
“The latter seldom happens here” as a way of saying no big deal. Unfortunately the acceptance of this behavior as tolerable is the slippery slope and using ad-homonym attacks demonstrates the lack of argument.
Car theft, robberies & crime are up in Bethesda. This is a fact and color it anyway you want but it’s those on the left that are the ones pushing to defund the police thereby creating the very atmosphere we have now. What happens if there is another school incident but liberals have defunded the resource officers? At least have the integrity to own it, but I won’t hold my breath
@6:16 AM: Well said -- you win the thread. Many thanks.
@6:16 -- Absolutely spot on.
The CVS in downtown Bethesda (Wisconsin) has started to lock up brand name stuff like Dove soap now.
