Bethesda construction update: TD Bank (Photos)
The tiny TD Bank continues to be assembled at the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Woodmont Avenue. This was formerly the site of a Shell gas station, and a small office structure.

And there's another TD branch being constructed at Highland and Wisconsin. It can't possibly be more than a 10 minute WALK between these two locations.
I've always thought the bank plan for this site is a temporary placeholder. A bank like that is easy enough to construct and then knock down in a couple of years once a better use for the site becomes available.
Since it is such a nice visible location located at the intersection of many roads, A colossal-scale statue would be lovely there. I think the developers and the community would love to have a 100 foot statue of Obama in that site, but are politely biding time until his presidency has been concluded so as to make the statue more appropriate.

So weird!!!! #rethinktdbank
Dyer should get some quotes from TD Bank and find out their rationale for it.

Does the bank actually own the land? They are ground leasing the lot on Wisconsin that used to be the gas station (from the Bethesda Bagels guy)
The building is right up against the road. Yuck. What will the rest of the lot be used for?
