White Flint Mall - destroyed!! (Photos)

The Dark Side of White Flint, Part 40

Welcome to The Dark Side of White Flint, an ongoing series about the not-so-wonnerful, wonnerful, wonnerful side of urbanizing the suburbs of Montgomery County.

What's left of White Flint Mall is coming down fast, including some of the most iconic interior features like the futuristic elevator shaft. The famous front facade glass is leaning backwards.

This is great. Can't wait to find out more about what's coming. These delays really stink it's been not useful to anyone in this state for so long.

Daylighting in the pictures is a nice touch Dyer!

So Lord and Taylor is still there? Does their building have a big hole in the side where the rest of the mall used to be?

9:16: Their building stands on its own, and Lord and Taylor owns it outright.

So sad seeing these pictures. It seems like just a short while ago I could take the elevator or the escalator up from the big glass doors in the front up to Borders Books and Music. I really liked the cozy, upscale atmosphere of White Flint. It was very homey but also tasteful and restrained. I'm not particularly looking forward to another mixed-use development going up where the Mall once stood.
