Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) has commended U.S. marshals and Montgomery County police after they took an armed man into custody near the Chevy Chase home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh early this morning. The California man had allegedly threatened Kavanaugh, and was arrested after law enforcement spotted him near the justice's home at 1:50 AM this morning, ABC News reported.
"The heightened security at [the homes of Kavanaugh and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts] began after a request [Virginia] Governor [Glenn] Youngkin and I made to Attorney General [Merrick] Garland last month," Hogan said in a statement. "We will continue to partner with both federal and local law enforcement officials to help ensure these residential areas are secure."

Sullivan maintains he is a journalist who was working in that capacity at the Capitol. His trial has not yet been held. Is that correct? He spent a single night in jail, rather than being remanded until trial. That, ad his having also recorded video at BLM/Antifa protests is sufficient in the minds of the fevered to prove he is a federal agent. Again, the question: What if he was/is? Does that somehow absolve the thousands of rioters of their actions? Widespread was the agreement among analysts that Fox went ad-free that night because the network's heads were petrified if Tucker had commercials, his viewers might casually flip to the hearings --just to check things out-- and be so riveted by the cornucopia of horrifying Trump & Co. scandals pouring forth that the proverbial scales might fall from those viewers' eyes. Best play it safe and keep Fox's ovine masses from being exposed to actual, demonstrable facts, lest they develop a taste for it.

It was that same Kevin McCarthy who then did a 180 and urged his GOP caucus to vote *against* the creation of the committee Katko & Thompson envisioned, the one with equal number of members Dem & GOP members, GOP subpoena veto power, and a shorter timeline. (For his part, McConnell instructed his Senate caucus to also vote against the proposal.) Thus, because McCarthy and Republicans voted to refuse cooperation in the creation of the committee, Speaker of the House Pelosi got to name all members of the panel and decide how the committee would proceed. She AGAIN invited McCarthy to participate, (not that she was obliged to,) by asking him to submit a roster of names for consideration to the panel. Because she raised objection to two names put forward --Jim Jordan & Jim Banks, each of whom had been singularly vocal in his ardent support of the fraudulent "stolen election" storyline-- McCarthy kept digging his hole deeper, withdrawing ALL his GOP names from consideration, leaving Pelosi the opportunity to select the entire committee. A Congressional select committee is not a trial. It is an investigative body assembled to address a specific matter, in this case the events surrounding Jan 6. Your side/the other side/GOP-MAGA side was asked multiple times to be a part of the committee, to participate, but the GOP caucus voted against joining, the GOP leadership withdrew all GOP names submitted to participate. If you/they don't want to participate, don't. But you don't then get to whine you didn't get to participate.

Now, to his credit, investigator John Durham did, over the course of his multi-year, not very successful search for misdeeds. I grant he did secure one guilty plea, from former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who admitted to altering an email. But that's it. Oh, and the Sussmann trial? Defendant found not guilty of the single charge brought against him: making a false statement. Yet to stand trial, Russian national Igor Danchenko, charged with...making a false statement. So, after five years investigating, Durham has indicted three, one of whom was found not guilty, one who pleaded guilty. On the plus side, I can't find any numbers addressing the cost, other than a figure of ~$3.8 around 12/21, although that doesn't make clear if it is for the period since 2017 or just the bit since autumn '19, when Durham FBI investigation turned to an investigation of possible crimes. In either case, not ruinously expensive.
In contrast, the *two* year-long, (not three as you wrote. 3/2017-3/2019 is two years) Mueller investigation resulted in 34 individuals and three companies indicted, of whom eight have pleaded guilty or been found so. Five of those eight are Trump associates. A search of Google for "total cost mueller investigation" indicates the cost was actually about $32m, almost exactly half your unsubstantiated claim. That figure was offset by the roughly $48m in unpaid taxes that Mueller's team unearthed during their investigation. In other words, the government netted $16m from unpaid taxes.
To recap: you were wrong about the length of Mueller's investigation and the cost. Multiple defendants were found guilty and sentenced to jail or prison. THe $32m cost of the investigation was more than offset by the $48m in unpaid taxes it uncovered. In contrast, the Durham investigation has been ongoing since 2017 and, of the three indictments issued, a solitary defendant had pleaded or been found guilty, (and his plea avoided jail time, too.) You control the WH, House, Senate, Mainstream Media, Fact Checkers yet so many polls, (even the ones over-represented by democrats), are saying that democrats are facing record losses. Your TDS polls say that a majority want Trump prosecuted yet his 2022 endorsements stand at 94% including several in notably blue districts.
