I've been told the mural represents not the actual skyline of the Big Apple, but rather, the New York-New York Hotel in Las Vegas. Which sounds good to me, as a fan of that hotel. They have one of the most interesting roller coasters in America, too.
If you look closely (click any photo to enlarge), you'll see the artist at work on the scaffolding. The project is designed by Steven J. Karr AIA, Inc., for Greenhill Capital. Sigal Construction is the contractor transforming this former homeless shelter into a restaurant space for Greenhill.

Will you please investigate when &Pizza plans to open at Pike and Rose?
Frankly, that "art" is just what we don't need. Las Vegas?!?
Two cities that are more apart than alike - Bethesda / Vegas.
It is not uplifting, inspiring or anything else except a technical reproduction. This is not art.
So the Statue of Liberty is not just a knockoff of the original, but it's a knockoff of a knockoff?
more art is good. better than a drab wall next to the parking lot.
Regarding the Roller Coaster at the NYNY Casino in Vegas: "If it's a TOGO, It's a NOGO."
The coaster was designed by now-defunct TOGO in Japan. They were known for their painful coasters.
I'm all for public art but it's odd they would paint that before signing a tenant who may have design ideas of their own or on the flip side be turned off by this painting as part of their image.
10:11: You are correct, as that coaster has a reputation for being uncomfortable.
per my source at greenhill , the mural is connected with the new tenant moving in. can't disclose the tenant but its a good 1 . stay tuned
Hello, Mr. Greenberg. How long do you expect this tenant to stay?
4:05: Please email me the minute you can disclose it: robert1999 [at] hotmail [dot] com
Glad to hear it!!
"1999"... "Hotmail"...
Dyer is so last millennium. LOL
7:45: Yeah, just one year off of 2000 - as in Windows 2000, which MoCo Government was found to be running on in 2014, a full 4 years after cybersecurity "guru" Hans Riemer was elected. #Oops
Just the same as Shockwave at Kings Dominion. It too, is a TOGO. There are rumors circulating around that Shockwave will be removed after the 2015 season as it is the last operational stand-up from TOGO in the US. My source for this is the In The Loop Podcast and to back it up, here's the YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGPFLEBBhh8
